Detention: Globalizing a "Local" Subject

The stages in Detention concern Southeast-Asian religons and culture, as well as Taiwan’s unique historical background—elements rarely seen in mainstream game media. How did Red Candle’s developers blend these cultural elements that most players around the world are unfamiliar with into the game without making the players feel lost? How did they combine the narrative, the emotions of the characters and the scenes with the level design? These are all topics that will be discussed during the talk.
